Spare Harvest was created to give every single person a simple and easy way to reduce their waste footprint. An engaging way to connect with others to share what they have spare in their kitchens and gardens.
Our mission is to connect as many people as possible to ensure valuable food and garden resources are used and not wasted. With your help we can reduce waste and consumption and more efficiently use what already exists.
We waste up 40% of our food globally – this translates to over 1.3 billion tonnes annually.
2.5 million tonnes or 34% of all food waste is generated by households in Australia.
Food and organic waste in landfill account for 8% of all global greenhouse gases – methane and carbon dioxide.
WE NEED YOUR HELP
We can’t reduce the amount of food and garden waste heading to landfill without your help. We have created a marketplace for you to share what you have spare in your kitchen and garden with your community. All we ask of you is that you try and share it on our marketplace before you put it in the bin.
We can’t reduce the consumption of new kitchen and garden items without your help. We have many unwanted and idle kitchen and garden items that could be used more efficiently.
Don’t let them sit idle, share them on our marketplace so they are used.
We don’t have to reduce our waste by ourselves, if we do it together we can make a massive impact. Together we can make a difference in not only reducing waste but building a community of like-minded people.
